I wish I may... have Mac compatible software

Hello Makers of various insulin pumps, CGMs, and meters.  How are you?  I wanted to drop you a note and say that we really appreciate all that you do!  Your inventions are quite literally saving us (well those of us with good insurance) so I feel just a little weird complaining but nevertheless here I go.

Not one of us wants to keep logs by hand but some of us have to because.  we have Apple computers and your software only runs on a Windows machine.  I know that Apple only holds about a 13% market share in home computing but please keep these things in mind: 13% is second only to Windows, that number is growing steadily, Apple computers are (generally) owned by the more tech savvy section of society and your devices are geared toward those people.  Lastly, it really wouldn’t take that much effort to port your software over to the Mac OS.

Anyway, give that some consideration please and let me know what you decide.

Signed,

Patiently Waiting

I Emailed Abbott today about this very thing.  I am considering purchasing a no frills laptop just for this purpose but I really can't afford to do that.  Excel is still my friend for now.

Sophia's Mom,

Like a net book maybe... That's a very good idea! Though I would so dislike using Windows again... :)

Strike Out Diabetes 2010

Stu & Stew’s 2nd annual Strike Out Diabetes event was fantastic.  I’m not sure how the boys did it but they elevated their JDRF bowling fundraiser to another level.  Check out this post to see a bit of video of Arden bowling...

I’ll be back to update this post when I have the final tally for the day.  Until then, thank you to everyone that put so much of their time and effort into this amazing and touching day.  It’s humbling to have so many friends, family and even strangers come together to support you.

UPDATE: Dan raised over $1,600 with his 2nd annual bowling day!  Way to go Dan!

Mom McGee

Of course the pictures are wonderful!!!
I think that the font on the paragraph should be a little bit bigger.  Also the info on the bottom of the card, which is in pink,  I think that it should be a shade darker or the blue color.  As it, it doesn't stand out.

Hey There,

You need to use a sans serif font center the Arden has type 1 diabetes or flush left before Arden's head. the middle text needs to at least 2pt bigger and Mom is right use a darker shade of pink for learn more about arden's day at the bottom try getting the pink off of her shirt that would probably work better.

Weren't you a graphic designer once? Barb
what they said. Plus...my thought is give them a compelling reason to visit ardensday. Maybe one or two sentences that says what content they will find.
Also, not sure if altruism is the right word....actually, I have a ton of thoughts and bouncing them with a conversation is always more productive. give me a shout and I'll give you my two dollars worth (two cents is inflated these days). oxoxox

I'd lose the 2nd sentence and increase the font size on the first sentence so it is easier to read. Less is more. The first sentence captures exactly what you are looking for. And the bottom pink should be the same color as Arden's shirt as the above mentioned

Multiclix

The Multiclix lancing device by Accu-Chek is such a dramatic step up from the lances that Arden has used in the past.  You don’t ever again have to handle an exposed lance because the lance is never exposed.  No accidental pokes and no possibility of contamination, I’ve never actually seen the metal lancets that reside in that little drum, for all I know it’s a magic lance and there is no needle.

There are six lancets encased in the blue and white drum (pictured).  They are advanced like a revolver advances a bullet, but with a twist.  Once you have used all six, the drum just pops out and you slide in a new one.  No more baggies full of lancets, poking yourself by mistake or just plain skipping a lance change because of the hassle...

This nifty device makes testing a snap and cuts down significantly on the stuff that you have to carry with you.  We have been using the Multiclix for over a year now and I can say without hesitation that, “it’s addition to Arden’s bag has been a fantastic one!”.  I can’t recommend it enough.

Please know that this is a 100% unbiased review. We are not compensated in anyway by Accu-Chek or any other entity.  Reviews of devices, meds and such that were compensated would be clearly marked.

Amen!  We have used this from the beginning and it is amazing!  I don't know why anyone would use anything else.

No more pre existing conditions

President Obama signs the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a historic piece of legislation that will expand health insurance coverage to millions of Americans and put an end to the worst insurance industry practices.

Washington (CNN) -- President Obama on Tuesday signed into law a sweeping health care reform bill, the nation's most substantial social legislation in four decades, achieving a top priority of his administration.

I'm so happy that words fail. My family has had a significant burden lifted today with the signing of health care reform. On September 23, 2010 it will no longer be legal to drop Arden's coverage due to her type I diabetes. That real possibility was a constant source of fear and stress for us and the countless millions of other families that have children with chronic diseases.
